About
Compass Group Danmar
Compass Group Danmark delivers food, cleaning and facility management services across Denmark. It runs around 350 canteens serving about 100,000 guests every day and is part of Compass Group PLC, which operates in more than 30 countries.
We asked Karina Starke, Procurement Supply Chain Manager at Compass Group Danmark, about the company's challenges and our collaboration. Together with her team, she makes sure that every supplier, from large food producers to small local businesses, meets Compass Group's requirements on sustainability, compliance, and documentation.
Challenge
New regulations, a large supplier base and a manual process. Compass Group Danmark had to identify which suppliers were affected by the EU Deforestation Regulation, run its own supplier risk assessment, and store supplier certificates centrally, all manually.
Solution
One platform built around Compass Group's own requirements. Worldfavor set up an EUDR process, turned Compass Group's own risk assessment into 5 scored assessments, and gave suppliers one place to upload their certificates.
Result
A clear EUDR process, plus 465 suppliers and about 260 certificates in one platform. Worldfavor helped Compass Group Danmark sort out which suppliers and products EUDR applies to. The team now has its suppliers, their answers and their certificates in one place, and its own risk assessment scored automatically.
“Today we have our suppliers, their answers and their certificates in one place. When EUDR changed, we knew straight away what still applied to us and could focus our time where it mattered.”

Challenges
Before Worldfavor, the procurement team collected sustainability and compliance data from suppliers by hand. Every round meant checking which suppliers had answered, what they had answered and how risky they were, one supplier at a time.
In early 2025, 3 requirements made that way of working hard to keep up with:
EUDR: the team had to find out which suppliers deliver any of the 7 commodities covered by EUDR (cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy and wood) or any of the 71 products derived from them. This was the main reason Compass Group started working with Worldfavor.
Certificates: Compass Group must keep all supplier certificates in one central place, and some suppliers hold more than 50 certificates.
Different suppliers, different questions: food and non-food suppliers need different requirements, both when they're onboarded and in the annual follow-up.
Solution
Step 1, 2025: an EUDR process that only asks what's relevant
Worldfavor's sustainability experts built the EUDR setup in 3 steps: a general questionnaire that shows which suppliers handle EUDR commodities at all, a commodity questionnaire covering all 7 EUDR commodities, and a product questionnaire covering 71 derived products. The questions adapt to each answer. A trader answers 4 questions, while a supplier that places products on the market answers 15 to 16.
Knowing when to stop
When the EU simplified EUDR, Worldfavor's experts walked the team through the changes in June 2026. For Compass Group, most of the original obligations no longer applied, so the team paused its EUDR data collection instead of chasing answers it no longer needed, and put that time into its own risk assessment and certificates.
Step 2, 2026: Compass Group's own risk assessment, scored automatically
In December 2025, Compass Group decided to bring its own supplier risk assessment into the platform. In spring 2026, Worldfavor turned it into 5 scored assessments for 4 supplier flows: new food suppliers, new non-food suppliers and annual follow-ups for both. Every answer is scored, and the team can see exactly how each score is calculated.
Certificates next to the supplier data
Suppliers upload their certificates in dedicated questionnaires. About 260 certificates have been collected so far, each one sitting next to the rest of that supplier's answers.
A Customer Success Manager who brings feedback to product
Compass Group's Customer Success Manager meets the team regularly, adjusts questionnaires as requirements change, and takes their feedback straight to Worldfavor's product team. When regulations like PPWR and PFAS added new questions for specific supplier categories, Worldfavor acted quickly with its standard assessments for these regulations and helped set them up.
“We chose Worldfavor because it offered a scalable and user-friendly platform that met our supplier due diligence and ESG requirements, while also demonstrating a strong willingness to adapt and develop the solution according to our specific business needs.”
